Professor Robert Labonte with Senior ECE Students Hillary Hayes, Jared Elliot and Tony Trinh at the Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt MD. Hillary, Jared and Tony completed their senior design project requirement while working at the NASA Project Center for 10-weeks on site in term A, 2003. Their project objective was to convert a complex C language satellite image processing algorithm into reconfigurable computer code in order to significantly improve the processing speed of the algorithm.
For over 100 years, the the ECE Department at WPI has educated future leaders of the electrical and computer engineering profession. We offer a flexible program that emphasizes project work, interaction with outstanding faculty, and active involvement of students in their learning.
The Bachelor's Degree in ECE features a balanced, integrated curriculum that is strong both in the fundamentals and in state-of-the-art knowledge, appropriate for immediate professional practice as well as graduate study and lifelong learning. Our graduates are able to apply their engineering knowledge to solve important problems, and they also possess the ability to communicate, work in teams, and understand the broad implications of their work.
